Read About the Role of the Parent Volunteer Coaches
A parent volunteer coach will coach each team. The parent volunteer coach will be supported by the Master Volleyball Coach. A Master Volleyball Coach will over see all practices where multiple teams practice. The Master Volleyball Coach will introduce all skills and drills. The players will then break out with their Parent Volunteer Coach where the Parent Volunteer coach will run the drill. Since there is a Master Volleyball coach in the gym at all time, there is a lot of support for the parent coaches.
Prior volleyball experience is not required as the Master Volleyball coaches will ensure that players get exposure to appropriate technique and drills.
During the matches, the parent volunteer coach will coach the team and call time outs. Since a rotation format is used, parent volunteer coaches do not need to worry about things like substitutions or line ups.
We do have some expectations for our parent volunteer coaches, these include:
- attend all practices and matches or arrange for another parent to fill in
- be enthusiastic, supportive and positive. Being a cheerleader is most of the job.
- keep track of stars for your team or find a parent on your team willing to do this tracking
- if possible, attend the two hour training session for parent volunteer coaches on Sunday, September 9th.
